Designed by Alex Urena Design Studio and built by Make The Mark, this award-winning home is a confident expression of form, material and collaboration. Concrete plays a central role — a natural extension of the owners’ family business — shaping both the architecture and the lived experience of the home.

 

The C-shaped layout sits to the rear of the site, allowing every major space to open to the front garden and draw in natural light. At street level, a garage clad in natural stone and black charred timber establishes a bold, grounded presence, with layered materials continuing throughout the home. A central concrete volume anchors the kitchen, dining and living areas, seamlessly connecting to a timber deck and landscaped garden.

 

Inside, exposed concrete walls, polished floors and sculptural stair detailing are softened by thoughtful interior design from Rachael Miklas Design & Detail. Praised by TIDA judges for its clarity, robustness and confidence, the home delivers a powerful yet refined architectural outcome.
